GT says "FF13 is the most disappointing FF ever" but gave it 8.6/10 & FF12 an 8/10

Shane: "Is it safe to say FF13 is the most disappointing FF ever?"


Brandon: "That would be 14."


Shane: "Oh yes, I forgot about that"


Brandon: "13 was the most disappointing console single player main entry in the grand scheme..."


Shane: "Does it feel more like a Final Fantasy game, because 13 to me, i felt like could be any futuristic RPG..." (30:40)


Brandon: "I would say its a little bit more, there's a little more FF archetypes in there. But it still feels like its the furthest away from the other games in the series"

If it is the most disappointing FF game ever, the question must be asked. Why then did they rate it 86/100 but gave FF12 a score of 80/100?

Japanese magazine: FF brand has collapsed, is now about movies, visual representation and CG graphics

The Japanese manga magazine publisher Shueisha published an article discussing the collapse of the FF brand and fan anger directed at Square Enix these days.


The article discusses whether Square Enix has sold its soul, and criticises the company and highlights the anger of the fan's directed at Square Enix.

It highlights the opinion of some fans who claim that the brand has collapsed and that Square Enix cares little about their feedback/opinions.






It also discusses the grief of many FF fan's who complain that Square Enix are going in the wrong direction with the new Final Fantasy brigade social game, calling it an FF game with a cute touch, and that FF is now about movies, visual representation and CG graphics.

The author also ends by criticising Square Enix, and says they want to make huge profits from little development costs and that they will just accept the criticism for now.

FF13-2 stands at 53/100 on the Japanese review website psmk2. Some common complaints and comments include: 

1. This is not a game, but a CG movie RPG
2. Story is horrible (with complaints that the ending is a cliff hanger)
3. Ending is bad
4. Mixed views of soundtrack, rap music e.t.c

This is a lower score than FF13 (which got a C rating).
